Being a collection of notes about the fiction I am currently reading- sort of a book review - but more like question & answer interviews with the reader (me) - sort of a commonplace book of book bits - kind of free verse analysis

Smith's books always amaze me with their sheer depth. I believe every detail. read his bio then buy the book by clicking on the nice golden cover
The real purpose of this blog (as if a blog needs a purpose) is to say that I'm still here, still reading, still adding to my collection of books in line for my notice, still planning to update this blog. I've been working behind the scenes with my zine (I've decided I like that better than "personal website") Multipurposewoman. Soon, and very soon, I'll be on a regular schedule.
What a wonderful thing to be told especially if the speaker is true to his word. I can't wait to find out if the Abbe is as enlightened a person as he sounds in these first 42 pages.

I'm so gullible that I've had to become a sceptic. I'll believe anything I read if it's written well. That's part of the joy of reading fiction for me - the suspension of disbelief. This is doubly so with historical works. But when the reading is over I want to know how much is "true", how much as been stretched, imagined, made up.
note 9/14: I'm starting these notes late. I'm on page 68/ chapter 19 and I'm just figuring out how I want to approach this blog. There were some things that I wanted to note here which I think I've lost!
9/19 - I had a moment of disappointment when the plot took a very predictable turn. But it was just a moment. The writing is tight and the plot righted itself in a way I didn't at all expect. I love when that happens. I'm enjoying the book.
Why am I reading this book? It's a historical, it's about art (like my novel), the author has published 12 other works of fiction. I love finding a new author who also has other books already published and ready for me to read just in case I like their work.
